Tulsi, also known as Holy Basil, has long held a sacred place in traditional Ayurvedic medicine and herbal lore. Renowned for its adaptogenic properties and rich history, Tulsi comes in three distinct varieties – Vana, Krishna, and Rama – each offering its unique flavor profile and potential wellness benefits. Join us on a journey through the enchanting world of Tulsi tea, exploring the characteristics of Vana, Krishna, and Rama varieties.
Vana Tulsi: The Wild Forest Tulsi
Flavor Profile: With a crisp, light, and citrusy flavor, Vana Tulsi brings a refreshing note reminiscent of eucalyptus. This variety is often considered the wild forest tulsi, known for its resilience and adaptability.
Wellness Benefits: Vana Tulsi is celebrated for its potential to uplift the spirits and promote mental clarity. Its adaptogenic nature makes it a valuable ally in managing stress and supporting overall well-being.
Krishna Tulsi: The Dark, Peppery Jewel
Flavor Profile: Aptly named for its deep purple leaves, Krishna Tulsi offers a bolder, peppery flavor with hints of clove. Its robust taste adds a spicy warmth to the tea, creating a truly distinctive profile.
Wellness Benefits: Krishna Tulsi is often associated with respiratory health and immune support. Its antimicrobial properties make it a popular choice during colder seasons for those seeking a comforting and fortifying tea.
Rama Tulsi: The Cool, Mellow Companion
Flavor Profile: Rama Tulsi, with its bright green leaves and a milder taste, provides a cooling and mellow infusion. Its flavor is often described as sweet and floral, offering a gentle and balanced experience.
Wellness Benefits: Rama Tulsi is favored for its calming properties, making it an excellent choice for relaxation and stress relief. This variety is believed to harmonize the mind and promote a sense of tranquility.

2. Enhancing Your Tea Time: Elevate your Tulsi tea experience by adding complementary ingredients like cardamom, ginger, or honey. These additions can enhance the flavor profile and contribute additional wellness benefits.
3. Our Tulsi Offerings: Our delicious house blended Tulsi Chai contains tulsi, cardamom and rose petals. At the tearoom, we also offer a stovetop Tulsi Chai where we add a Tablespoon of tulsi to a small pot, bring it to a boil, and let brew for 4 minutes. We then add milk and sugar to taste, and we bring it to a boil again. Then we pour the tea through a strainer into a mug. We then top the tea with powdered cardamom.
