DESCRIPTION

  • Bai Hao, also known as Oriental Beauty, is a type of oolong tea that originates from Taiwan. It is made from the leaves of the Qingxin Da Pan cultivar, which is allowed to be bitten by the tea leafhopper, an insect that helps to bring out the unique flavor and aroma of the tea. The tea is typically harvested in the summer months and processed using traditional methods that involve withering, bruising, and oxidation.
  • Because of these leaf-hoppers, this tea can only be made from plants that are not grown using pesticides and at a certain elevation. The skill necessary to process the leaf also adds to the high value of this delightful oolong.

  • Bai Hao tea is known for its honey-sweet taste and fruity aroma, with notes of peach, apricot, and honey. It has a smooth, creamy texture and a refreshing finish. The leaves of Bai Hao are typically long and twisted, with shades of green and brown.

  • Bai Hao is often considered a high-end tea and is prized for its unique flavor and aroma. It is in a superior class of semi-oxidized oolong teas with a higher degree of oxidation and an abundance of tips.
