GABA OOLONG

DESCRIPTION

• Gaba oolong is a type of oolong tea that is made using a unique process that increases the levels of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the tea leaves. GABA is an important neurotransmitter in the human brain that helps to regulate anxiety and stress levels.

• The production of gaba oolong involves exposing the tea leaves to nitrogen gas during the oxidation process. This nitrogen gas triggers the release of GABA in the tea leaves. The tea leaves are then heated and dried to prevent further oxidation. This technology was developed in Japan whereby oxygen is replaced with nitrogen in a sealed fermentation chamber.

• To meet the Japanese standards to be labeled as GABA tea, the tea must contain at least 150mg of GABA per 100g dry weight.

PREPARATION

• Add 1 Tbsp of tea to 12-oz of boiling water, and steep for 1 minute. Seven to ten infusions.
